Public warned of people selling portraits of King and Queen

Members of the public have been warned to be wary of being cheated by certain irresponsible individuals selling portraits of the recently-installed Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Permaisuri Agong.

The official portraits of Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Tuanku Nur Zahirah can only be produced, printed and released by the Information Department and they can actually be obtained for free from state and district Information Department offices and public information centres.

Information director-general Datuk Abdullah Morad said some irresponsible parties had used super imposed techniques to produce and sell one set of King’s and Queen’s portraits for RM90 each through orders at certain bookstores in March before the installation of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“The individuals had superimposed the faces of Tuanku Mizan and Tuanku Nur Zahirah with the portraits of the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Permaisuri Agong before the installation of Tuanku Mizan. As a result, the medals on the royal attire do not match those of current Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” he told a press conference on the distribution of the official portraits here on Friday.

“This is an offence but the problem is some government agencies have bought the portraits before the installation.”

Abdullah said the department warned the irresponsible parties several times and even lodged a police report on the matter and another report to the Prime Minister’s Department's protocol division. He advised the public to report to the nearest district Information Department offices, if they come across cases of people selling the portraits.

Abdullah said the department had printed 500,000 sets of portraits of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong. “If not adequate, we will print some more,” he added.

He urged public and private agencies and organisations to get the portraits and display them on the walls of their offices as a symbol of loyalty to the King and the country, which is one of the tenets of the Rukunegara.

Trully, why would anyone want to do that? Don't Malaysian citizens have respect for the rulers of our country anymore? Although nowadays mostly everything is controlled by our Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi, the symbol of the King and Queen should also be honoured and respected as remembrance of the heroes that fought for Malaysia long ago. Let's protect their status and honour them with all our hearts, Malaysians!

Kajang SatayThink of this: charcoal-grilled chunks of sweetened(marinated) meat skewed on bamboo sticks served to you with a dishfull of sliced onions, cucumber, and ketupat and a bowlfull of peanut and sambal gravy to go with the delicious meat. All Malaysians should know, the local delicacy is also known as "Satay". But I'm not talking about any ordinary satay here. I'm talking about the very famous Kajang Satay in Malaysia!

Restoran Sate HJ. Samsuri
Kajang is only a small town located in Selangor with nothing special to attract visitors ---- except for its famous Satay Kajang. Among all stalls selling Satay, the one with the most business and most reputation has got to be Restoran Sate HJ. Samuri. This store gained a lot offame for its best-selling satays. Everyday, many customers will flock to this restaurant to inIce kacangdulge in its skewed delicacies.

In case you haven't been to the famous Restoran Sate HJ. Samuri in the past few years, it has moved. The new joint is much cleaner than the previous 'huts'. It's now a proper food court with fans and even a room with air-conditioners. It also has an open air section(somewhat like a balcony) where customers can enjoy their meal under moonlights.. or sunlights if they prefer. Its chairs and tables are also cleaner and arranged neater like the ones you see in food courts. Parking is also not as big a problem as the last time since there are two parking lots available for you.

Dining RoomSo, stop drooling over the computer and why don't you drop by Restoran HJ. Samuri when you are free to have a plate of satays or two? After all, it's part of what great Malaysia can offer.

Windfall for Maxis Shareholders

According to The Star 4/5/2007(friday),

Minority shareholders of Maxis Communications Bhd stand to make a handsome profit from the company's privatisation exercise after T. Ananda Krishnan offered to buy their shares back at RM15.60 each.

This means that an investor who had bought 1,000 Maxis shares at RM13 each just before trading was suspended on Monday will make RM2,600, or a 20% gain on his investment.

Those who bought the same number of shares in Dec 29, when each share was at RM10.20, would make a RM5,400 or 53% gain.

Maxis, whose initial public offer was priced at RM4.36, was listed on Bursa Malaysia on July 8, 2002. If a shareholder had kept his shares from that time, his gain would be 301%, including dividend payments.

However, the shareholders would only realise their gains if Binariang GSM Sdn Bhd, a company set up for this exercise, gets 75% acceptance from shareholders, or an additional 15.5% of minority shares.

At RM15.60, Ananda – who, through Usaha Tegas which he controls, and bumiputra trustee companies collectively hold 59% interest in Maxis – will have to fork out RM16.4bil to buy the 41% remaining stake in Maxis.

The 41% amounts to 1.047 billion shares. Foreign fund managers are said to be holding substantial blocks of the shares.

The entire privatisation of Maxis is valued at RM39.9bil, making it one of the largest ever buy-out transactions in the Asia Pacific, according to CIMB group chief executive Datuk Nazir Razak.

Wow! Maxis shareholders around Malaysia must be real happy for this profit margin! Go go go Ananda! Malaysia loves you!
