A Student's Nightmare

Today is a horrible day for students in UTAR, especially the ones in Bandar Sungai Long, as one of our friends studying her first year degree was raped and murdered in her house in Bandar Mahkota, Cheras here. The victim's name is Tan Lai Meng, 20 years old persuing her first year degree in Business Administration. The news can be found here.

It annoys me very much over the recent years for students falling under victims of robbery, rape, and murder. Yet it annoys me even further knowing that most of these cases happened to students who are studying in Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman (KTAR). I just don't understand why innocent students from these two schools are often targeted to be victims of crime. Do we look rich to those insolent bastards?

Just last year there were reported 12 cases of students from UTAR and KTAR who experienced tragic experiences. Out of them 5 was raped, 7 was molested, almost all were robbed, and 4 were killed.

Now studying in UTAR and living in Bandar Sungai Long, we students are fearful of our lives. Who knows who would be the next victim!? Especially for those living in a specific condominium (name not mentioned) where the safer shortcut to school is now sealed and all students of UTAR living there needs to take the long, deserted road to UTAR, it is now very dangerous for them to walk alone.

Really, these people should stop preying on innocent students. We did you no wrong! For now, let us have a quiet moment for Tan Lai Meng and pray that she will rest in peace.

Brought to you by I,Malaysian! We share, we care.

"Really, these people should stop preying on innocent students."

Are there victims who are not innocent?

Really, these people should DIE.

It's sad that all these happens so frequently in Msia... but why? Is it becos the punishments are too light? Or that there is just too many dark roads from school to home?

Why is there a need to seal off the safer shortcut? Petition? prob useless too...
