Today I stumbled upon some very interesting news about Malaysia banning female actresses doing screen kisses in movies. what a laugh. It seems that an Oscar-nominated movie called The Hours had small parts where Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman and Julianne Moore kiss other women. The parts was banned by film cencors from being shown to Malaysia.
The head of the country's Film Censorship Board said it was protecting "the interests of the country and people from bad influences and negative elements shown in films", But the censorship move was criticised by members of the Malaysian film industry for being too prudish for modern audiences.
Malaysians are not stupid though! We all know when a part of a movie is being cut and deleted, don't we? Some Malaysians are okay with the FCB banning because of religious reasons while others are critisizing and commenting that FCB is being too "narrow-minded" and sensitive.
So what do you think? I'm neither both. Censoring is quite frustrating in a way you see the movie "jump" from one scene to another just like that, but seeing two women kissing, is also very "geli" for me :p
not to mention magazines like Time got censored with black markers as well..
malaysians reading Time magazine so stupid ah?
that shows how much the govt value the people who voted for them..
haha hi Naz~
yeah lah!
small small parts also kena banned or marked.. this govt is too much.
Malaysia govt too protect malaysian liao, scare all will be lesbian la...nazlihaffiz, next time you think you will vote who? ;)
