In conjunction with the nation 50th independence on August 31 and Visit Malaysia Year 2007, Tourism Malaysia has initiated and organised many events to celebrate 50 years of nationhood and to welcome all visitors to the country. The events are held in various locations in Malaysia, many of which are located in Klang Valley.
Some of the big events that will be held are:

APRIL EVENTS
10 April: Royal Go-kart Competition
Go-kart enthusiasts will have the opportunity to compete in the Royal Go-kart competition in Kelantan, held in conjuction with the birthday of HRH the Sultan of Kelantan.

MAY TOURISM MALAYSIA EVENTS
1 May: Wesak Day
Celebrated by the Buddhist, it is considered the holiest day in the Buddhist Calendar. It marks the birth, enlightenment and final passing away of the Buddha.

1-6 May: National Water Festival - Labuan International Sea Challenge
Water sports enthusiasts will look forward to a time of kayaking,jet skiing, canoe racing, treasure hunt, sandcastle building competition and many other activities.

1-6 May: 25 - 27 May: Johor International Orchid Show, Johor Bahru

26 May: Colours of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur
Colors of Malaysia Festival will give you an opportunity to learn about the Malaysian people and the diverse cultures. This yearly event brings all the heritage and culture of Malaysians from all states.

30 - 31 May: Tadau Kaamatan(Harvest Festival), Sabah
Celebrate by the largest ethnic group in Sabah, the Kadazan Dusun and Murut communities. Celebration include merry-making, cultural performances, traditional sports, and the Unduk Ngadau (Harvest Festival Queen) pageant.

JUNE TOURISM MALAYSIA EVENTS
5 June - 7 August: Malaysia International Aerospace Exhibition, Subang Airport
The main attraction of the aerospace adventure is the US$2 billion Russian BURAN Space Shuttle. Measuring 36 metres with a wingspan of 24 metres, the BURAN weighs 105 tonnes and can be blasted into space in less than 60 seconds.

8 - 10 June: Penang International Dragon Boat Festival, Penang
Colourful painted boats race to the rhythmic beating of drums and roaring crowds in Penang, one of the most visited places in Malaysia.

22 - 24 June: Japan GT, Sepang
Started in 1994, the Japan GT Championship Series (JGTC) is the most popular category in Japan’s motorsports world. One of its race is held here in Sepang, Selangor.

23 June - 29 June: Fiesta San Pedro, Melaka
Fiesta San Pedro is a major annual celebration of the Portuguese fishing community in Malacca. Traditional games, cultural performances, food fairs and the best decorated boat contest make it an interesting event not to be missed.

24 June: Penang Bridge International Marathon, Penang
This race incorporates a marathon, a half-marathon and a quarter marathon. Participants will run across the third longest bridge in the world. Great prizes awaits the winners of this international event.

1 July: Ipoh Open International Run, Dataran Ipoh

7 July : Colour and Flavors of Malaysia Parade, Merdeka Square Kuala Lumpur
This parade will show the various Malaysian culture, craft and cuisine that is celebrated over an entire month.

13-15 July: Rainforest World Music Festival, Sarawak Cultural Village
Visit Sarawak on the island of Borneo go to see the living museum known as Sarawak Cultural Village. Musicians from around the world will gather here to celebrate a fusion of nature, culture and ethnic music.

21 - 22 July: Port Dickson International Triathlon, Negeri Sembilan

31 August: Merdeka Day Parade
This day commemorates Malaysia's 50th year of independance or 'Merdeka' in Malay Language. See the open air consert on the eve of Merdeka day on 30 August. The colourful parade will be held on the morning of the Merdeka Day. The Merdeka day celebration is held in every major city in Malaysia.
